I forgot to post that I saw Powerman 5000 last week, up at the 103 Ultra Lounge in Orono. Decent show. They played I think 12 to 14 songs. Was pretty sweet. Here’s a photo of Spider in action:

And last night I saw Bury Your Dead, with a few other bands. None of the others really appealed to my tastes. I saw one fight which ended in a football-style pileup on the floor with the security guards hauling the offenders away and out of the club. I also saw the security guards haul away a kid who thought it’d be a smart idea to hang from the stage lights overhead. I guess Bury Your Dead has a new vocalist, a big black dude. He was decent.

Here’s the fall concert lineup thus far.

1. 9/7: August Burns Red, A Life Once Lost, and a couple other bands….. Good show. Not terribly impressed with “hardcore dancing” or their pits or whatever the fuck you call it. They flail their arms around, do the “two-step” and other stupid crap. w/e
2. 9/11: Shadowsfall, All That Remains, and a couple other bands…. Great show. Shadowsfall put on a sick set. Fucking loud too. They pretty much tore the Station up. Kinda strange day to have a show, but still cool vibes from it.
3. 10/9: Powerman 5000. Should be a good show. Last time I saw them, they put on a good set. And I got a guitar pick from their guitarist.
4. 10/11: Bury Your Dead, Bring Me the Horizon, Ion Dissonance, Nights Like These, Catharsis. Not sure about this show since Bury Your Dead has lost Mat as their vocalist. Hopefully it is good. I haven’t heard much from the other bands. We’ll see.
5. 10/12: Mushroomhead, Psyclon Nine, Marazene, Baghead, As Summer Dies. This should be a killer show. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed seeing Mushroomhead in the past, and I expect to not be disappointed.

Fucking finally. Some decent shows. Pretty much this summer has sucked ass due to only a couple of shows worth going to.

On Friday, I went and saw the band Kittie along with Downsoul, Tomorrow’s Tragedy, and Soulkill play at 102 Ultra Lounge. okay, stop the presses. 102 Ultra Lounge??!?! The club formerly known as Ushuaia. Who the fuck came up with 102 Ultra Lounge? As far as I can tell, it is not connected to a radio station at 102.1-9 FM. What a retarded name.
Anyway, I wasn’t sure whether this was going to be a good concert. However, I had nothing better to do on a Friday night and tickets for this show were only $18.00. So I figured, ah wtf might as well go. I was definitely glad I had gone when I left the club. As much as people give shit to Kittie about being an “all girl band” and whatever stereotypes that includes, they really brought their shit. They owned the place. In fact, their current lineup is probably the best the band has had so far, musically speaking. They played a lot from their current album (which I don’t have yet) and some of their older stuff. It was fucking cool.

I guess their bassist was out sick, so Kittie brought in some guy from another band to fill in.
