LinuxWorld and updates

I attended LinuxWorld 2006 in Boston at the beginning of this month. That was a lot of fun. Took the Downeaster Amtrak train from Portland right into Boston. Saved money that way and was more convenient. Stayed at a nice hotel right across from the Boston Expo Center. The place was huge! Check out my picture gallery. This is all the free swag I got. The coolest item I found at the show was K9 device from Realm Systems. It is a small linux embedded device that has a full linux os on a 1gb memory card inside with biometric thumbprint reading and other secure access features. I thought it was neat. Can’t wait till they release it. I’ll probably buy one.
I couldn’t force myself to drive down to Mass to go to the New England Metal and Hardcore Show. Too far to drive. I’d have to overnight down there. Oh well. Maybe next year.
I decided to drop the web host for my business web site and move it to DreamHost. I’ve had another account with DreamHost and have been pretty happy with it. As for my old web host, they were pretty bad. Frequent e-mail issues, outages, overloaded servers, and other crap. It was time to move it. So I did that this weekend. I got everything up and running. Going to cancel my account sometime this week.
I just bought a brand new Dell 19″ LCD screen. Wow, it is just amazing. No more eye strain, no more burning eyes, no headaches. I should have gotten one awhile ago. I saved my pennies and bought this one on a deal. $230 after two instant Dell coupons with free shipping. The only problem I have is getting the DVI to work. It would appear that my Gigabyte video card has a dead DVI port. Big suprise there…. /sarcasm I’ll have to RMA this card for the 3rd fucking time. It was repaired twice before. I won’t be satisfied with another repair. It is time to replace the card with a new one Gigabyte. And I will not be without a good video card for almost 2 months like the last time. Man do they suck. Not buying another Gigabyte product…. ever.
