my ear drums……

Last night I went to the State Theatre in Portland to see Nocturne, Crossbreed, Dope, and Mushroomhead. Great show! I hadn’t heard of Nocturne or Crossbreed. I loved Crossbreed’s stuff. Loud, double bass, weird angle grinder throwing sparks all over the place. Just kicked ass. Nocturne was pretty damn good. Their vocalist is pretty fucking hot. Lacey is her name, met her briefly after their set. She was signing items that they had for sale. Good prices on shirts and what not. I wished I had bought something, but I’ll wait till next time I see them (in a month at Ushuaias).
Dope was pretty good. Interesting lyrics, good show. Mushroomhead just owned it up. I knew about half of the songs. I don’t have their album XIII, so I didn’t know any of the songs. However, they played a bunch of the old stuff off XX. Not many people showed up to the show, but the audience still gave great feedback, and the pits were awesome. The security guards were dicks though. They kicked this girl out who snatched a bottle of water off the stage during sets. Then the guard was telling some kid to STFU for some unknown reason. Idiot guard. They didn’t even keep the vocalist from Nocturne from falling off the rail by the front of the crowd.
Got home around 1am. Long fucking show. Didn’t get out till midnight. Show didn’t start until 8:30pm, an hour late. I was thinking of going to a computer show in New Hampshire, but decided against it, as I was not feeling well this morning at 6am. lol
I’ve got to start bringing my camera to shows. Must do this!

make that two concerts this week

For some dumb reason, I thought the Mushroomhead show was tonight at Ushuaia’s in Orono, but the concert isn’t until Sept. 14th.
Oh well, I didn’t have anything planned tonight anyway. Time to find something to do. Battlefield 2 Demo probably.

three concerts this week

I saw Chevelle, Taproot, and 30 Seconds to Mars last night at the State Theatre in Portland. Great show. Not a huge fan of Chevelle, but they put on a good set. Lead singer has gotten better with singing since the last time I saw him (2+ yrs ago?). Taproot was just amazing. The lead singer jumped offstate during his set and started running around through the crowd, shaking hands with fans, and stuff. Pretty damn cool. I’ve never seen that before from the 25+ shows I’ve been to. He went to the upper deck in the Theatre as well. Right where I was previously sitting with my friends Shannon and Alex who I brought down with me to the show. Then the lead singer came down to the floor, threw his mic onstage, and jumped in the mosh pit. Wow, crazy guy. But I bet he owned some people in that pit. It was cool that the upperdeck was open to everyone, not just 21+. All the previous concerts, upperdeck was either closed completely, or 21+ could go drink up there. Instead, this show they handed out 21+ bracelets so those people could drink. I bet a lot of booze got in the hands of minors though. My ears are still ringing. :(
Tomorrow night, or tonight (depending on when I finisht his post), I’m going to see Mushroomhead, Dope, and Crossfade at Ushuaias in Orono. That should be a pretty cool concert. Then on Friday Alex and I are going to Mushroomhead at the State Theatre in Portland. This is great. I’m going to Gigatour (Megadeath, Fear Factory, and others) at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland in a couple weeks. Then a week after that, I’ll probably go to Seether and Dark New Day at the State Theatre.
Yes, I’m spending a lot of money on these tickets. Too much, but then again I don’t purchase cds, so I’m giving back to the bands. They make more money on concert tickets than cds. Fuckin record companies.
Seven days ago was my 23rd birthday. I’m pretty amazed I’ve made it this far. I’m pretty darn healthy physically and mentally for the first time in like ten years! It’s great. I’ve mellowed out in the past few years. Feel real calm and collected. Got my shit in order. Starting to put the past in the past and move the fuck on. Having better income is helping too. I wrapped up a good three week business computer consulting job in Augusta a couple weeks back. Made enough to afford business insurance (general liability now, and hopefully technology liability soon).
Well I’m fucken’ done for. Got a service call at 10am so I should get some sleep……….
