Last week my cat started acting real strange. I’ve had her since she was a kitten. Rescued her from the neighborhood around my old home in New Jersey. She was about 12 to 14 yrs of age. I don’t know her exact age. Anyway, she started this pacing through the house, like all day and all night. Wouldn’t stop at all. She also refused to eat or drink anything. After a day of this and getting no sleep since she just kept pacing, I brought her to the vet. I tried to convey to the vet that she was not acting normal. The vet thought she might have a slight infection in her lungs from a surgical procedure she had done a few weeks earlier (her teeth had to be removed as they were all rotten and infected
). So I bought her back home. She continued to not be the same old cat she used to be. I finally got through to the vet to make her understand that the cat wasn’t doing well, and she finally admitted she probably mis-diagnosed her and that my cat most likely had either a stroke or a large tumor in her brain. It affected her thought processes. The cat would see food and water but not make the connection to eat it. This would also explain why she kept pacing. Anyway, I took her back to the vet to keep her over the weekend. She took a turn for the worse when she developed congestive heart failure and fluid in the lungs.
One of the hardest things I’ve ever done was put her out of her misery. At least she went quickly and didn’t suffer.
Another one of the cats either ran away or was eaten by a fischer. Five other cats in the neighborhood have gone missing and people think that there is a fischer in the area. ![]()
Really depressing few days. However on brighter news, my consulting job is starting back up again. I have two jobs in waterville wednesday and two in augusta friday. $450 income, but already spent on the vet bill. ![]()
I do have a picture of my cat. I’ll try and get around to scanning it into the computer and post it.
