Sometime in March, I was watching Techtv, and saw a commercial for Dice.com. I decided to set up an account and post my resume on there. Well today I get a call from a company looking to hire me for a three to six month contract to diagram and then re-wire the Fleet banks in my area. Going to make good money, work after bank hours (3pm), work till I finish each night. Starting work Monday night. It will be two days a week for the beginning and then more work afterwards. Fleet Bank got bought out by Bank of America. They hired this company to rewire each of the bank branches to their standards. So I was told I will be doing the ones near me. Shouldn’t be too bad of a drive. I get reimbursed for mileage from the first to second bank branch, and so on. I may get reimbursed for the trip from my house to the first branch. I’ll have to see.
The feeling I get is have the quals for this job. I hope to learn more about the job this weekend during a conference call.
Other news: I purchased a brand new Samsung 19″ SyncMaster 997df monitor for $149 with tax. It is very nice. Got it at the local Mardens. Mardens got a shipment of computers and electronics from a damaged Best Buy in Florida. I went to another Mardens a few days later and picked up a Creative Nomad Zen Xtra 40gb mp3 player for $200 with tax. I just sold it last night on Genmay for $235 w/ground shipping. Turns out I couldn’t easily hook it up to my car stereo. I would have needed and AUX converter and then a cd changer or tape deck. Too much money. Too much hassle. I never opened the package. So I’ll make around $25 profit.
I’ve been doing a lot of work on the construction of the basement. I got another roll of insulation to insulate around a closet, and also wired a light w/switch in the closet. Hooked up the 5×4 multiswitch for the satellite. Unfortunately, I need to run another RG6 cable from the dish to the multiswitch to get all the channels I need. I have been looking around town for a right-angled drill but cannot seem to rent one. I need to drill some holes through studs. A regular drill is just too big to fit between the stud cavities. I’ll probably just put the wire in the existing holes I have and deal with the mess later. I want all the channels now!
Last few days, my business has been good. Making decent money. Working on residential customers computers. Cleaning them of viruses, spyware, and updating Windows and other applications. Between my new job and this job, I might just be able to support myself.
Tomorrow night I’m headed to Orono to see Killswitch Engage live at a local club called Ushuais. That should be a killer show. Can’t wait. Although, I don’t know when it starts. And I’d like to stop by UMO before the show and say hi to a couple friends up there.
