Concerts

In the past two months, I went and saw two awesome shows. First was Devildriver at the Edge in Augusta. That was one of the best, if not the best, show I’ve ever been to. The Edge is a small club downtown on the waterfront. Only about fifty people showed up for the show, which is great for me (not a crowded place) but bad for the band as they didn’t get more of an audience. I met Dez after the show. My 3rd time meeting him. He is such a cool guy; down to earth and someone you can talk to. Some musicians are so full of themselves that they forget who got them there: the fans. Three other bands opened for Devildriver. One of them was Magna Fi. Although some of the audience didn’t like them (their musical genre wasnt death/heavy metal, more of hard rock) I enjoyed them. One of my friends asked the lead singer (who also did some lead guitar) to play something by Van Halen. The guy oblidged and did this awesome five minute guitar solo. Wow, he had some talent. The other two bands were local, and I don’t recall their names. They weren’t too bad.
The second show I went to was Slayer at the Augusta Civic Center, two days earlier. Saw God Forbid, Hatebreed, Slipknot, and Slayer. My third or fourth time seeing Slipknot. I didn’t really like their set. They played so fast, and didn’t pause between songs. It drowned out the whole thing. Could barely tell what song was playing. Joey didn’t do a drum solo either. Hatebreed wasn’t too bad. Their pits were nuts. I didn’t stay for the whole Slayer set as I really don’t like them too much. Anyway, those were the shows. I’ll try to get the ticket stubs scanned in here shortly and add them to the gallery.
