So finally I’m updating here. I’ve had three lan parties at my house. Very cool. I think next month I will advertise at lanparty.com and a few other places online. Maybe a couple places locally. Went to a lan party in portland a few months back. Sixty people! Was very cool. The Waterville Crew (Jason, Ben, myself, Alex, Jesse, Leighton, and Rich) took home four out of the five trophies at the lan. Ha ha, good times. Last lan party at my house, almost everyone (only eight people) had gigabit lan (onboard mostly). Jason brought his kick ass 8 port Dell gigabit ethernet switch and we all hooked into that. Very nice speeds. Saw a peak of 60Mbit/sec off my comp. Not too shabby. Someday when I get some money, I’ll grab one.
I’ve started my own pc repair business. It is slow going as I cannot afford real advertisements such as TV, radio, or yellowpages. Still hitting the streets looking for a part-time or full-time (preferably) job. I’m also working on finishing this damn essay for college, which will give me credits for my job experience, computer certifications, and other vocational credits. I need twenty some odd more credits to graduate. I just got to commit to doing it. Lazyiness is a disease.
My basement is very nice. I moved my computer down here permanently. Nice a cool. Painted two-thirds of the floor. Will finish up the rest soon. I need to finish running data, phone, and catv cable. Then I can insulate the walls and the ceiling. Then I will panel the walls. Paneling is cheaper than drywall and a hell of a lot easier to install. Pre-finished too. Can’t wait to get that done. I also have to get some real lighting down here, which will involve adding a couple more circuits. Hopefully I can still get my co-worker to come and do that. I don’t do electrical panels. I’ll cable, install boxes, outlets, and switches, but not final connection into the panel.
I finally got rid of my MSI board after two dead rmas and no response from MSI. Total junk. Last time I’m buying from them. I went back to ASUS and hopefully will never have any issues from them.
Been doing a lot of administration on my server and melug’s servers lately. A lot of security patches to be downloaded and installed. Also doing more security checks, installing detection software, and all that. It’s fun, challenging, but time consuming. Two of the boxes are kinda slow through ssh sessions. I helped the developers of RootkitHunter add support for Whitebox Linux to their program. The developer showed me what info he needed. Two weeks later the update came out with support for WBEL amongst other fixes, addtions, and changes.
Yeah, I’ve got ensomnia really bad. It is to the point that some nights I only get two hours of sleep
Not much I can do about it. I’ve tried Ambien, but it didn’t work. Oh well.
Off to another sleepless night.
