Sitting here at the Oakland Library, reading about how all the Techtv employees got their 60 day pink slip. In a way, I guess I could see it coming with the Comcast buyout. I feel sad tho; I hope the shows and the hosts don’t get the permaban.
My mom got a dell a few weeks back. I didn’t realize that the floppy drives are kind of custom; they don’t come with a face plate or the drive bracket. That is, if you ordered a dell without a floppy like I told my mom to do, you have to find someone nice enough to trade/sell you a floppy drive and bracket. Both of which I happened to get from my friend Alex. I’m pretty impressed with the computer. It does the job. She ordered a 15″ flat panel with it. Wow, so damn nice. Now I can see why people buy two of them and put them side by side.
Because she got a new computer, she doesn’t need the old one. Last night I put a P3 450mhz and two sticks of 128mb crucial memory into the system. Took out the P2 350mhz and one stick of 128mb ram. I plugged it in, and the psu smoked on me. I haven’t a clue why. This system had been working fine two weeks earlier. I didn’t even hit the power button before the psu smoked. And did it smoke. Stunk up the entire basement. I took the psu apart and found like five resistors and the pcb under them are charred. Still no real clue why it smoked.
Still job hunting. Been working at the Oakland Library. Keeps me busy. Though I have been working for Airolink a lot too. Just got my paycheck today and had 44.25 hours for two week payperiod. Not too bad. Need more hours though and more pay. I bought seven copies of norton systemworks 2003 off ebay for like $6 a piece. Got them in last saturday. Spent all afternoon yesterday installing it on all the systems here at the library. Lots of configuration I have to do to keep people from messing with it and to make sure it updates automatically in the background. I am currently waiting for some files to finish copying over to another system so I can do the gates windows 2000 upgrade on this computer. Then get this computer all upgraded with patches, apps, and other stuff. After that, I can work on the server in the basement. It needs to be reformatted and windows 2000 server installed.
I have to reload my nailbat server sometime very soon. Hopefully I will have some time this weekend to do this.
Monday night: A Perfect Circle. W00t. Picking up Shannon and then to the concert. Can’t wait. lates.
