sevendust
did i ever mention how much sevendust ownz? well they do, and i’m dedicating this blog entry to their greatness. i can’t wait to see them again live. it will be my fourth time seeing them live. they pwn so much in concert. i guess they are my new favorite band since coal chamber broke up. speaking of coal chamber, i hope that dez can bury the hatchet and allow the band to release a dvd. i’d love and appreciate that so much.
so last few days i’ve been working a lot for the oakland public library, doing network administration and other computer work. my mom (who works there) keeps telling me i should send them a bill. i figure they have a small budget and if i charged them, they would not be able to afford it. anyway, i prefer to volunteer my time there, even though i dont get payed. give something back to this community; the least i can do i guess.
so i brought one of the computers home with me to upgrade the system to a larger drive. got the larger hdd (8.4gb seagate) out of another donated computer. lots of issues working on this system. i decided to use the donated computer, and put all the parts (video, nic, cdrom) from the old system into the donated. then i had problems with the harddrive not being seen, then the system not booting, then the hdd has bad sectors, then ghost not copying files, then had to flash the bios to a newer revision (thankfully asus keeps these files on their servers even though the bios is like ten years old. flashing the bios was the best thing for that computer; auto-recognizes ide devices, and some other additions/fixes. finally got the system completed. took me probably eight hours altogether.
on friday morning, adelphia showed up to install the powerlink service (which the library got for free due to the town government franchise agreement with adelphia). got a com21 modem put in there, and now finally fast internet access. then a technician from transco showed up to show me how to install drivers for the copier/printer/scanner. this is the coolest copier on the face of the earth. it’s a savin C2408 copier, printer, and scanner. lots of cool features. cheap to print to; like 13 cents cheaper than the HP Laserjet 4100N they also have (which is now the backup printer). installation of the driver is very easy. the tech knew his shit and was nice to talk to.
melug-central meeting today. helped a friend there with his wireless router. showed me a cool program called kwifimanager. so i attempted to install it, but of course it wouldn’t compile. finally got it compiled and installed (from source) and also built rpms from the source code. so i’ll post them here sometime.
got my sevendust and godsmack/ill nino tickets in hand. both concerts should rule. i plan on getting to augusta very shortly and buy a ticket to the a perfect circle concert. man i am a concert junkie. anyone who needs a ride there, IM or e-mail me.
