So I found out today that I gotta go in for surgery to get a cyst taken out. Yay. January 15th. The surgeon guy was cool so I guess I’m gunna be ok. 2-3 days in the hospital, then 2 fucking weeks of no work. I guess it doesn’t matter that much. I don’t work much lately. Still though. whiskey tango foxtrot. Maybe more than 2 weeks. Wow. This is gunna suck. Anyone who says they aren’t intimidated are tools. So yeah I’m not exactly looking forward to this. fucking gotta pay the $1500 deductable too. Putting me in the poorhouse. At least I have insurance or else I would be paying 11 fucking grand, or somewheres around. Hospitals. What a joke. anyway, wish me luck.
On a slightly lighter note, I went wardriving with some friends last sat. Man that was fun. I got this 200mW wireless card from work. Wow! This card is powerful. At least 4 times powerful than my orinoco silver card (30mW card). Antenna diversity (i.e. two external antenna ports, which I may buy mobile mount omnis to increase range and pleasure). After spending an hour trying to figure out why no APs were listed in NetStumbler, a friend found the setting to change (changed to a diff. device listed) and boom, lots of access points. So we drove around augusta for awhile. Then stopped at dunkin donuts for food. Must have food. And of course wardrove from dunkin donuts whilst eating. Then we went to hallowell for awhile wardriving there. Found lots of aps there.
Wardriving is the shit.
I actually borrowed two of those wireless cards from work. One to put in my Dell 1170 rebadged orinoco AP-2000 access point. Well it doesn’t like the card. Big suprise with orinoco junk. I did however tonight get the wireless card working under linux on my laptop. So fucking cool. Actually the install was easier and more configurable than my orinoco card is. I love this card. Fedora Core 1 with the card. Lovely. Now to load it up with all the necessary wardriving tools.
I saw a segment on TSS tonight about freebsd and clusters. That sparked my interest in trying to start up a cluster in my basement using clusterknoppix.
I found a site to load your access point up with linux. I will have to try that.
TSS did a segment last thursday on a kit to build your own access point. Damnit, I wish I had 250 bux. I got the wireless card, just need the board, case, and CF card. God, I seriously want to build that. Looks like a really fun project. Another cool project I want to do is this one. Roll your own mp3 player. Man, also a sweet project. But I’d rather do the access point right now. someone PIF that access point project. Please? ![]()
All the wireless. Man I love wireless. For home. Not for a wireless isp. I’m getting burned out from working at Airolink and wireless on a large scale such as that. Drives me nuts. People with viruses, spyware, adware, and nubs who hose their computers and expect the isp techs (me) to fix it when it has nothing to do with us.
I re-organized my private ftp. Moved the files to a separate partition which has more space. Uploaded devildriver. Seriously, you peeps gotta download and listen to them. They fucking own. Lead singer is dez fafara. Yes, the one and only coal chamber lead singer. His new band is so heavy. Swinging the Dead is my fav. song by them right now. And yes, on that note, I guess this is the end of Coal Chamber. Sadly. I really enjoyed their shit. I’m gunna miss them, but I guess everyone needs to move on. I leave you with this:
Pick it up, fuck it up, this swinging sound its got them moving You scream for blood, you scream for flesh, keep the bodies moving Ride if you like, ride if you like, deathride Swinging the dead, swinging the dead Deathride
