I just flashed the firmware my liteon ltr24102b 24x10x40 cdrw and my liteon ltd163 16x dvdrom drives. I got the firmware for the cdrw drive from the official site. It would appear that liteon doesn’t make new firmware for their dvdrom drives. I guess this is do to the region coding of the drives, and flashing the drives would reset them to default “no region selected” mode, thus allowing a stuck drive to be reset to any region. So I did a quick google search and came up with this site. So the drives are up-to-date. While I was not having any problems with the drives, I just like to be up-to-date with any computer device I own; be it drivers, firmwares, newer hardware, etc. I flash my bios every time a new bios is released (which one hasnt been in awhile, grrr). I would link to asus right now, but their site is giving me troubles.
So I reformatted my windows 2000 pro sp3 install and put on my newly created windows 2000 pro sp4 install. Everything appears to be running smoothly. I needed four critical windows updates after the reformat. I ghosted my drive right after installing IE6 and the windows updates were installed.
Now the tedious process of reinstalling all my favorite apps….. I always miss one; I go to run it and it isnt there so I have to install it right when I need it. Blah, annoying. Must make a checklist of software to install.

Slipstream… yummm
Slipstreaming is yummmy…. No, not that Star Trek Voyager episode where they created that slipstream drive to travel through thousands of light years in space in a matter of seconds. I slipstreamed service pack 4 into a windows 2000 professional cd. So the basic idea behind this is by putting sp4 into the install files, I skip the step of having to patch Windows 2000 pro after I install it. I think slipstreaming is a better idea to do at installation point then after windows is installed, cuz after can bugger stuff up.
Anyway I have this massive headache right now. It feels like someone is stabbing the right side of my head with a nail. It will throbb for like five seconds, in which I get really dizzy. I also think I have a small lump on the side of my head where it hurts. I don’t remember bashing my head on anything or getting into a fight. So I’ll see a doc tomorrow if it is still bothering me. Almost time to down a double dose of ibuprofen.
Oh and btw, streey pwnz….. sometimes :-/

Belkin pwnz.
So unexpectly the ups guy shows up at like 7:30pm last night. I wasn’t expecting any packages. So I get the package. Weights a ton. Guess?
I got my RMAed belkin ups back. This one is brand new. Opened the package up and installed the ups. I briefly tested it. It doesn’t suffer the same flaw as the old one did: turn off when ac power was pulled. Not exactly the a flaw you want to happen with a ups. So I’m happy. Belkin gave me no grief about returning my old one. Props go out to Belkin on this. TY!
